Monday’s Music: Dancing Machine

This is still a very stressful week, I’ve spent a lot of time studying and there’s a lot more left so I thougth it would be fun to share something that helps me relax. There are moments I am so jittery that is totally impossible for me to focus on what I have to study so I turn my favourite music on, spend about twenty minutes dancing, singing or even shouting the lyrics and then start studying again.

This is a silly and fun ritual that helps me keep my sanity intact while spending a lot of time at home, alone and studying and I don’t care my neighbours, my flatmates or even Mr. Funny think I’m crazy, is something that helps me relax and focus again and, well, I love it!
Yesterday I picked some of my favourite songs that I listen while this crazy dance and made a new playlist, but something was wrong with Grooveshark and couldn’t embed it on the post, I decided to try it again today. Here you are!

Hope you like it! Love,

Deborah

P.S: No photos today, sorry, I’m very busy!

This week I learned

It’s been a long week, weeks are always longer when you have to study but time also flies when you do. I spend the hole day studying and my head wants to explode but at the end of the day my feeling is that I should have studied more. Here begins a self-destruction process when I feel bad because I have to study and feel bad because if I don’t do. Then, suddenly I turn on my computer and start reading some of the blogs I love and draw a smile, Internet is an open window for me to think about new projects and goals that I’ll be achieving as soon as I finish my finals and a place where you can find so many beautiful things!

This week I discovered this beautiful Lenka’s song, The Show, and I love it, but it’s not only the music, the video itself is so funny, everytime I see the tomatoes I can’t stop laughing.

Lovely Melissa made me smile with this quick DIY.

Loved this beautiful table, I’m thinking about painting one for my home but maybe silver?

I’ll be baking those brownies ASAP.

Enjoyed this beautiful photos.

Learned how to make oat milk.

Found this beautiful bag at Stylistpick.

Learned how to embed a video on the blog.

This one is something that M. Funny read somewhere on the Internet but none of us knew and found very important: It’s a very common thing to suffer urinary infections after having sex but an easy and simple way of avoiding it is to urinate after make love because urine is an antiseptic. I’m writing this because is something no one taught me and think is very important. This has never happended to me but actually I do have friends that had this problem.

Also learned a lot of maths but that one was obvious!

Hope you have a very lovely day. Big hugs for you!

Deborah.

Cooking Fridays: Vanilla cupcakes.

Hey! It’s been a long time without any recipe and I’m starting with a delicious one. I did those yummy vanilla cupcakes three or four weeks ago but I couldn’t share them with you because of my laptop… Since I did my very first cupcakes with my friend Esther, I’ve wanted to do more and more, but I was going to cook them alone this time so chose the easy ones to start. Esther told me about a lovely Spanish blog, and I decided to learn the recipe there, she writes in Spanish (something interesting if you’re a Spanish newcomer on this world) and the explanations are simple. After more than an hour wanting to cook (and eat) every recipe I saw, ended up choosing the simplest: Vanilla cupcakes! I didn’t do exactly the same recipe but it’s almost as she explaines. Here we go guys!

Ingredients: (12 cupcakes, 48 mini-cupcakes)

Biscuit:

  • 115 gr/4 oz unsalted butter at room temperature.
  • 220 gr/7.75 oz white sugar.
  • 3 medium eggs.
  • 200 gr/7 oz flour.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder.
  • 120 ml/4 oz semi-skimmed milk.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Buttercream:

  • 250 gr/8.8 oz unsalted butter at room temperature.
  • 325 gr/11.5 icing sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • 2-3 tablespoons semi-skimmed milk.

Directions:

Biscuit:

  1. Preheat oven 180ºC/356º F.
  2. Line the cupcake pan with 12 paper cases.
  3. Sieve the flour and baking powder on a bowl and set aside.
  4. Mix milk and vanilla extract, set aside.
  5. Mix butter and sugar until well incorporated.
  6. Add the eggs one by one and mix until well incorporated.
  7. Aggregate half the flour and beat at medium-low speed until mixed.
  8. Add the milk and beat again.
  9. Incorporate the rest of flour and mix till you get an homogeneous mixture.
  10. Fill 2/3 the paper cases.
  11. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick goes out dry and clean.
  12. While the cupcakes are on the oven, prepare the buttercream.
  13. Once baked, let the cupcakes cool on the pan for 5 minutes and then change them to a rack.
  14. When they’re completely cold decorate with the buttercream. You can add some toppings to have a more coloured result.

Vanilla Buttercream:

  1. Sieve icing sugar and put it on a bowl with butter, vanilla extract and milk.
  2. Cover and beat at medium-low speed for one minute.
  3. Speed up to medium-high speed and beat for five more minutes. The buttercream will change to a whiter color and the texture will become creamy.
  4. You can dye the buttercream with dye paste.
I brought the cupcakes to a Birthday Party and they were a hit! Hope you try this new recipe, and if you do, please let me know!!! ^_^
Loves and hugs!
Deborah.
P.S: Today I noticed that I have a lack of kitchen and cooking vocabulary. Can anyone tell me some synonymous of add and incorporate? Thanks!
xoxo!

New Year’s Resolutions and Happy New Year!

    Source

I know, I know, it’s been a long time without writing but I went home to see my family for Chtismas and my laptop crashed so I’ve been almost without Internet for almost two weeks… :-(.  And yes, I’m running late on everything I wanted to share with you, but life hapens and that’s something no one can change, and right now I’m trying to reorganize all the posts I want to write. But stop complaining about what happened yesterday and think about today!

First of all I want to say Happy New Year to everyone! Hope this new year is full of happiness and all your projects and dreams come true.
And now, I want to talk about all those projects I would like to accomplish this new year. (Yeah, it’s a big  list)
    1. Learn photography, take a couple of courses.
    Source
On November I bought this camera and I want to learn how to take better photos.
    2. Pass at least the 80% of my courses.
Ok, that’s always in my mind and it’s a priority but I thought it would help to write it down to achieve it.
    3. Compose two songs.
I love music, it’s a big part of my life and also love expressing myself with music.
    4. Write between 100 and 150 posts.
Or more if possible. I love blogging!
    5. Start the mile a day.
It’s a good thing to go running, it helps me relaxing and feeling better.
    6. Use bike to go everywhere!
    Source
I live in Valencia,  it’s a beautiful city and the weather is always good, there are only a few really cold or rainy days every year so bikes are a funny and a healthy conveyance.
    7. Cook 12 different cupcakes.
    It relaxes me so much!
    8. Do the 365 challenge (a photo a day).
This was not my idea, I read it on a post of one of my favourites blogs, A beautiful mess.
    9. Craft something for me.
I craft a lot of things but usually as gifts to other people so I want to do some crafting for myself.
    10. Do the 20 minutes daily cleansing.
I read it here and I thougth it was a good idea, I used to clean on weekends all the house but I prefer to
enjoy more my free time instead of cleaning, I’ll share soon my experience.
    11. Improve my wardrobe.
That means I want to have a more personal style, I usually buy basics and play with them but I want to have more of those pieces you like so much that you want to wear them as often as possible.
    12. Use skirt twice a week.
I love skirts but always wear pants, I want to change that.
    13. Go out with Mr. Funny once a week.
Ok, we’re students and we spend a lot of time at home so I think is a healthy idea (and I’m talking about madness here) to go out once a week, it can be a dinner, a lunch, the cinema or even a walk, but we have to spend more time out and together.
    14. Improve my nutrition.
That means slow down with sugar and meat, eat more fish, fruits and vegetables. it doesn’t means I’m starting obssesing with nutrition, and I absolutly don’t have bad habits but I want them to be better.
    15. Slim down.
Only as a part of eating better and exercising more.
    16. Decorate my home.
This is a long term project but I want to feel that my home is really my home. I’ve been living in the same flat for 5 years but I didn’t start until last September.
    17. Learn more make-up.
I just want to know how to make in different styles and methods. I don’t use a lot of make-up but I want to know how to make me up on those special occasions.
    18. Study English.
Want to improve my vocabulary and grammar. I started writing this blog in English to improve my skills and I’m learning a lot but there are expressions and vocabulary that there’s no way I can learn without a little help.
    19. Study Catalan.
Well, I allready know Catalan, but I need to remember a lot of things. I hate not to write correctly and I want to make sure that doesn’t hapens to me.
    20. Study French.
Another language I want to improve. The same as English, I want to know more vocabulary and also need to remember some verbal tenses and spelling.
    21. Read 6 books.
    Source
I love reading but since I started my degree I don’t read much because I’m just a bit overwhelmed with information during the day. Six books in a year is not much and I want to spend more time doing things that I love.
    22. Learn sewing basics.
This list is so big that I decided not to add some more projects that I would like to accomplish… Next yaer better isn’t it? What are your New Years Resolutions?
    Happy Saturday.
    Borondy.
