Blog Love – 09/01/2015

Hi guys! Two Blog Love posts in a row, can you believe it? Well it’s happening :P.

Since the New Year started I’ve been looking for better ways of displaying this section, I first tried to only present the links I found interesting, but it’s really bizarre for me to find recipes between DIY and tips, sooo I think the display I bring today will be easier for everyone: If you are in the mood of something concrete you can go for it and only look for the correct header.

Bloggership: What I’ve been loving lately

Hello people, it’s Friday!

On the almost two years I’ve been intermittently blogging I’ve learned many things. When I decided to start writing I barely knew anything about the blogosphere: I only read a couple of blogs, I didn’t usually read them and was so lost that I didn’t even know where to start. But the thing is since I watched Julie & Julia the idea was on the back of my head. And finally, when I decided to start digging in this world I found one of the best hobbies I could find. Now, two years later, I read too many blogs, I’ve known people from all over the world and enjoy reading their stories, looking at their pictures, trying their recipes, making their DIY and learning with their tutorials.

With this post I am starting another blog love series, because my voice wouldn’t be my voice if I didn’t read so many amazing blogs and because these blogs and the authors deserve a mention on my just-for-fun-and-no-so-amazing blog.

DIY – 10 with washi tape

So, it’s been a long time again… I won’t complain about how busy I am or was those last months. I only can say there have been lots of changes in my life and I’m still getting used to them (I’m planning on sharing a little bit more on the next Mood’s Music post).

Today I was supposed to share with you three washi tape DIYs I made in June but I cannot find the pics I took (those are the perks of moving and being myself a huge mess) soooo instead of my three not-so-cool washi tape DIYs I chose ten really cool and amazing DIYs with one of my favorite handcraft good.

What makes you awesome?

Today I’m supposed to talk a bit about me, about my best quality, the one which makes me special. I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the matter  and I don’t really know if I would be able to pick a quality itself because I’m not sure if the one I’d choose can be called a quality, it depends on the context in which we place ourselves.

In my case, I would say that my best quality is integrity. I tend to keep calm when something bad happens and respond to solve the problem as quickly as possible and the best way I find. It is supposed to be a good thing, isn’t it? But that integrity has something else behind: I tend to hold back my true feelings on those cases, I tend to put them inside some kind of armored box and keep them locked the longest I can. So finally, when those feelings get out of the box I become a complete mess because I’ve been holding them for too long. Having said that, I also find my greatest quality one of my greatest weaknesses.

There’s a question that yesterday popped on my head: Is there only one quality that makes us special? Or is it the whole picture of all our strengths and weaknesses?

As I grow up I find myself thinking about how everything changes from black or white to a whole palette of grey, I realize that our weaknesses sometimes make us strong, that our strengths sometimes keep us apart from our dreams and that we have to find the perfect balance between both to achieve our awesomeness. Only if we mix them and learn how to use the new grey we find we will be able to find our best personality. When we do it, then we’ll have matured.

It is so my opinion that what makes us awesome is how we find, or try to in my case, said balance, how we work on it as hard as we can and finally end up using our best and worst qualities for being a better person both professionally and personally.

What are your thoughts about it? What would you say makes you awesome?

Happy Friday!

Blog love

Catching up! Catching up! It’s been two days without writing here but this challenge is coming to and ending and wanted to catch up before tomorrow… or at least try, you know!

One of the things I love most of this kind of communities is that you get to know a lot of other bloggers and their unique voices. It is nice the opportunity that things like that bring you, there are a big bunch of people out there with so many things to say!

Although I’ve been really busy (oooh I know, I’m always complaining about that) and had little time to read other people’s blogs, I’ve been reading some that are on the boat of this BEDM initiative and I’ve found a few really interesting.

I’m sharing a bit of blog love here.

This girl is a creative mind, she has the loveliest DIY and a funny voice, she always makes me laugh. Reading her I feel like we could be best friends.

I’m not usually attracted by blogs based on maternity but with this lovely momma I got caught instantly. I really love her videos and the moving goal posts.
Clare is a hell of a woman! She works on her happiness has hard as she’s able to and shares it on her blog. You can learn a lot of this scottish woman. I love Leo Tolstoy’s quote she’s got on the about page.

This illustrator has the greatest and cutest drawings. She has a unique voice and uses it to tell stories through her illustrations.

Yaya is one of the most interesting girls I’ve ever read, with her frugal lifestyle and living outside her country for the last couple years, she shares her adventures and misadventures trying to make the best life out of what she’s got. Totally in love of her like/love/loathe series.

There’s no way I can explain what Chelsea does here, she just writes and shares amazing pics. I don’t really know what is about her blog that I love so much, maybe the way she does everything with simplicity? Maybe the gorgeous smile she’s got on every photo she posts? I don’t know, but I love her blog.
Melanie, or Miss Melvis, as she likes to call herself, shares on her blog a lot of book content. She does amazing books reviews and shares every thought about them. Yes, I love books 😉

This girl has the funniest stories and shares beautiful DIY, recipes and fashion inspiration. She makes a beautiful thing out of nothing and has the greatest fashion ideas. She’s the perfect mix between being girly and adventurous.

On this blog you’ll find the most amazing DIYs you can ever think about. Ruth’s got a hand for this. Also it is a great source of inspiration for everything, since travelling to interior decor.

Hannah likes to keep things simple, and I love that of her. She shares the cutest thoughts and has a peculiar sense of humor. I love her Star Wars Day post, was because of that one I started following her, I laughed so much!

There are a lot more blogs taking part of the challenge that I find interesting, it was really hard to only pick 10, but I think I did my best, I’ve chosen the ones that I find unique or closest to my interests. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do, don’t forget to visit them and leave a comment saying hi! 😉

Hope you have a nice Thursday and we’ll meet here again this afternoon.

Best thing about childhood: Imagination

When I was a child I had a huge imagination, I spent hours being a powerful warrior fighting against orcs, being a princess ruling my kingdom, being an astronaut on a spaceship.  When I was a child a blank canvas was as if a whole new world opened before me, it was a new opportunity.

When we are children, we play, we dream, we IMAGINE.

Everything is possible: our sword is a wooden stick, our spaceship is a cardboard box, our crown is made of flowers. We create amazing games out of nothing, we have invisible friends, we write awesome stories, we speak invented languages, we laugh hard.

When we are children, imagination is our superpower. We are superheroes fighting against the grey cloud of adulthood that hangs over us, painting it with our wide palette of bright colors and big brushes. We see the world with our special angle and see all the opportunities that it brings us.

Imagination, best thing of childhood.

Healthy living

Healthy living, wow, what a difficult topic today… Healty living, what do I understand for healthy living? Is it eating healthy and practice sport? Is it trying to buy everything on fair trade and Eco-friendly shops? Mmm I gues I’ll have to investigate more about it.

I just decided that I want to dedicate more than a few lines on this topic. Wouldn’t it be nice to write some quality posts about healthy living? Recipes, shops, nutritional tips, exercises… This is the start of a new series of posts where I’ll be talking about everything related with this topic. I’ll do some research and will write quality posts, but everything once this BEDM challenge ends…

So, guess it’s time to go to bed, but with a bunch of ideas on my head ready to work with! Sweet dreams beautiful people!

Mood’s music #3: Not such a good day

There are good days and not so good days. There are days you think you’re conquering the world and days you feel so tiny that everything feels scary. Bad days just happen and we have to deal with them the best way we can: sometimes eating chocolate, sometimes listening to some music, sometimes we only need to feel the heat of our loved ones.

Today’s one of those awful days for me, I’m in a bad humor, feeling sad and pulled by a string of negative thoughts that undermine my self-esteem. Just a bad day, you know?

Although I am usually a very positive person, there’s plenty of personal stuff I have to deal with and guess the stress of the finals being around the corner and that feeling I have of not being capable of pass all the exams are increasing my negative thoughts, making me feel more tired and gloomy than I’m used to. Also, when I feel like that I usually stop talking with people and I don’t tell anyone how I am feeling so end up feeling more alone than I really am. That’s embarrassing to say, but I am some kind of jerk in this area: I don’t usually tell anyone when I am feeling sad. I’m not the kind of person who asks for help when it is really needed… I am such an idiot. You see? Bad feelings all around.

While I deal with my shitty way of communication when I am sad, I always need a positive message to stick with and luckily, music helps me through everything and there’s always a song that makes me smile or think about better times. So, today I picked the song that has been my positive message those last months, the message that I need on that kind of day: Hold On.

Is there a song that helps you through bad days?
